The Brooklyn United Marching Band, popularly referred to as BU, is a Brooklyn United Music and Arts Program favorite. The southern collegiate-style band, with its flair for unique and electrifying presentations, has grown to become one of the country’s most prestigious marching bands. The band consists of consists of woodwinds, brass, percussion, dance, and flag, and participates in over 80 parades, showcases, and special events throughout the year.


Brooklyn United’s Drumline, also know as TTUP is an engaged group of high-energy percussionists that takes their performances seriously, and the results are pure fun and entertainment. These skilled musicians take ownership of the stage or street wherever they perform—from Barclays Center to MetLife Stadium to Carnegie Hall—and showcase drum and cadence talents they have developed and perfected with the help of BU’s music and art professionals. Beyond music and dance, members also demonstrate leadership skills and confidence whether performing in front of parents, community representatives, or elected officials. This drumline packs the house every time, promising quality entertainment with spirited rhythm and street beat moves.


The Brooklyn United Evolution Drumline combines the musical talents of a group of 12-20 school-age percussionists in grades 5-10. The Evolution Drumline trains to learn more advanced musical skills, including cadence—skills the members put to work in a variety of well-rehearsed routines and venues. To participate in the Evolution Drumline, members must demonstrate both good grades in school and a willingness and discipline to learn outside of school. In addition to learning drumline skills, they learn leadership skills and gain confidence—key ingredients to succeed during performances and competitions where they take to the floor to showcase their drumline music and street beat talents.


Platinum Elegance Auxiliary Section, the all-female Platinum Elegance, showcases their collaboration, coordination, and choreography in every performance. They serve to enhance the larger marching band experience by combining well-rehearsed dance and flag routines that result in fast-paced, high-intensity performances. Platinum Elegance performs alongside the marching band and drumline at a variety of venues, including community and sporting events, and in competitions. Members must pass an audition, and commit to work-out and training sessions with peers. Their membership in Brooklyn United not only hones their dance, flag, and physical skills, it also supports BU and the auxiliary as these young women learn and participate in leadership roles.



The Brooklyn Nets Beats Drumline is a group of gifted percussionists who perform at home games of the Brooklyn Nets professional basketball team. Barclays Center comes alive with the Beats percussion prowess and creative footwork that has become a fan favorite both in-game and during time-outs and at halftime. These skilled musicians demonstrate an amazing talent, and their remarkable rhythm and beat mesmerize the crowd. They love what they do and make every move look easy, but don’t be fooled – this group works hard to synchronize hands with ears and feet, and never miss a beat of the cadence. They truly represent the best of Brooklyn United Marching Band’s drumline entertainment.
